Peking University Third Hospital always adheres to the principle of “patient-centeredness”, continuously innovating measures to improve the patient medical experience. The hospital strengthens multidisciplinary team (MDT) management and the full-course management of rare diseases, enhancing the capability to treat complex and critical illnesses. Minimally invasive surgery, day surgery, weekend outpatient clinics, and evening outpatient clinics serve more patients; the construction of a pain-free hospital continues to advance. The comprehensive outpatient appointment platform is being improved, while special medical services and international medical services are being expanded and optimized. The construction of the smart hospital has reached a new level, creating a safe, convenient, and intelligent digital hospital experience for patients both online and offline. The hospital has passed Level 7 of the Electronic Medical Record System Functionality Application Grading Evaluation and Level 4 of the Smart Service Grading Evaluation. The functions of the Internet Hospital continue to improve. By the end of 2024, it registered more than 2.3 million users,and the cumulative number of internet diagnosis and consultation services reached nearly 700,000 person-times.

The hospital established the Education and Teaching Center and continuously deepens the reform of medical education and teaching. Peking University Third Hospital attaches great importance to undergraduate education, with relevant courses selected as high-quality undergraduate courses in Beijing universities. Its teaching achievements were awarded the First Prize of the 2022 National Higher Education (Undergraduate) Teaching Achievement Award. The Neurology team won the National Second Prize in the University Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition.
Each year, the hospital undertakes the teaching and training tasksof nearly 700 undergraduate students, more than 700 graduate students, nearly 600 standardized training residents and specialist physicians, and nearly 2,000 advanced training physicians/nurses; it undertakes the management of undergraduate medical education across multiple disciplines, with a primary focuse on the eight-year clinical medicine program. The entire hospital has 31 doctoral degree programs and 33 master's degreeprograms It also operates 20 standardized resident training bases for in Beijing, including 3 national key specialty training bases for resident standardized training, and 3 specialist physician training bases accredited by the National Health Commission.

For years, it has ranked first among Beijing municipal hospitals in the number of projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation. Academician Qiao Jie’s team was awarded the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award. In recent years, Peking University Third Hospital has successively launched a number of major initiatives to stimulate innovation in medical science and technology and facilitate the translation of research findings. In 2019, the hospital established the Institute of Medical Innovation and initiated the Xueyuan Road Clinical Medicine Collaborative Innovation Alliance in Beijing. In 2024, it further founded the Science and Technology Association and officially inaugurated the Institute of Industrial Development. Peking University Third Hospital has been actively exploring new approaches to extend high-quality medical resources to local communities and has ranked among the top in Beijing’s comprehensive evaluations of medical alliances for consecutive years.
Twelve cross-regional specialty medical alliances, along with the comprehensive medical alliance in the central-eastern Haidian, have contributed to the improvement of regional healthcare services. The Second Outpatient Department, the Central Party School Campus, the Airport Campus, the Northern Campus,and the Haidian Northern Campus operate under a vertically management, with the implementation of standardized management achieving tangible results. Peking University Third Hospital has taken over the management of two district-level hospitals in Haidian and Yanqing, contributing to the development of healthcare in the capital; it has also taken over the management of Yan’an Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to support the revolutionary old base area; it is constructing two national regional medical centers which are Chongli Campus and Qinhuangdao Hospital to implement the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy.
Peking University Third Hospital consistently upholds the public welfare mission of public hospitals, serving as a 'national team' in safeguarding people's health and lives. From the snowy plateaus to the African continent, from earthquake-stricken zones to the frontlines of epidemic prevention, the hospital’s staff have demonstrated the profound compassion of medical professionals through their action Since 2020, the people of Peking University Third Hospital have successively rushed to provide medical support in Wuhan, Changchun, Lhasa, and other places. A total of 137 medical staff formed a national medical team to support Hubei in fighting COVID-19, and were awarded the titles of “National Advanced Collective in the Fight Against COVID-19” and “Model of the Times.” In 2022, the main hospital dispatched five teams with nearly 200 people to provide medical support for the three competition zones of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Peking University Third Hospital and its Chongli Campus were awarded the title of “Outstanding Contributor Collective for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics” and received commendations from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. Peking University Third Hospital Yanqing Hospital was awarded the title of “Beijing Advanced Collective for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics.”
The hospital continuously carries out medical assistance in Tibet and Xinjiang, mobile medical services, and medical support programs. Over the past ten years, 10 groups with a total of 61 participants have taken part in the “team-based” medical talent aid program in Tibet, providing relay-style support for the development of local healthcare on the snowy plateau. Nine groups comprising a total of 17 cadres have been dispatched to Xinjiang successively, steadily advancing the aid work in Xinjiang. The national mobile medical team of Peking University Third Hospital, consisting of 73 experts from the hospital, has left footprints in 26 hospitals across the Tibet Autonomous Region, Shanxi Province, and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Over the past five years, the hospital has cumulatively dispatched more than 200 personnel to support medical institutions such as Daning County Hospital in Shanxi Province, extending high-quality healthcare resources to underserved areas.
