Professor Fan Dongsheng's team from Peking University Third Hospital publishes new ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) treatment findings in JAMA Network Open

On February 24, 2025, Professor Fan Dongsheng's team from the Department of Neurology at Peking University Third Hospital published their research findings in JAMA Network Open, a sub-journal of the prestigious JAMA. The article is titled "Tetramethylpyrazine Nitrone in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis A Randomized Clinical Trial."

The results demonstrated that nitroxoline has good safety and tolerability in ALS patients. This study represents the first multicenter randomized controlled trial of an innovative chemical drug for ALS in China.

Dr. Liu Xiaolu, Associate Chief Physician of the Department of Neurology at Peking University Third Hospital, is the first author of the paper, and Professor Fan Dongsheng is the corresponding author.
