Professor Zhan Siyan’s Team at Peking University Third Hospital Publishes in Diabetes Care, Revealing Potential Treatment Options for Epilepsy

        On March 25, 2025, the team led by Professor Siyan Zhan from the Center for Clinical Epidemiology, Peking University Third Hospital, published a research article in Diabetes Care titled: “Association Between Use of Sodium–Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitors and Epilepsy: A Population-Based Study Using Target Trial Emulation.” This study provides potential therapeutic options for people with diabetes who are at high risk of developing epilepsy, and offers population-based evidence for the repurposing and cross-disease application of SGLT-2i. Zhao Houyu, a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Clinical Epidemiology, Peking University Third Hospital, is the first author of the paper. Professor Siyan Zhan and Jiang Zhiqin from the Yinzhou District Center for Disease Control and Prevention are co-corresponding authors.
