On April 7, 2025, a research team led by Professor Zu Lingyun from the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Peking University Third Hospital, and Researchers Liu Ke and Zhu Chi from Peking University College of Engineering, published their research findings in the internationally renowned journal Advanced Science, titled "Uncover Hidden Physical Information of Soft Matter by Observing Large Deformation".

The research team proposed a method based on large surface deformation to infer internal physical abnormalities of soft matter. By observing large deformations of soft objects under external forces, combined with advanced mathematical models and algorithms, they inversely derive internal material properties, as well as the location and shape of anomalies. This method effectively breaks through the limitations of traditional detection techniques, demonstrating wide application potential in various fields such as medical imaging, soft robotics, and materials science. Yang Huanyu, a master's student at Peking University, is the first author, and Zu Lingyun, Liu Ke, and Zhu Chi are co-corresponding authors.
