On May 2, 2025, Professor Duan Liping's team from the Department of Gastroenterology, Peking University Third Hospital, online published their research findings in Gut Microbes, titled: "Mechanosensory Piezo2 regulated by gut microbiota participates in the development of visceral hypersensitivity and intestinal dysmotility". The study investigated the effect of gut microbiota dysbiosis in patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D) on the mechanosensory molecule Piezo2, revealing the regulatory role of gut microbiota on the mechanosensory molecule Piezo2 and providing a new research direction for the treatment of IBS-D patients. Zheng Haonan, a 2020 doctoral student from the Department of Gastroenterology, is the first author of this paper, and Professor Duan Liping is the corresponding author of this paper.
