Recently, the research team of Professor Hong Jing / Associate Chief Physician Peng Rongmei from the Department of Ophthalmology, Peking University Third Hospital, in collaboration with the Beihang University team, published two research findings online: one on November 3, 2025, in the top biomaterials journal Bioactive Materials, titled: "ECM stiffness governs endothelial barrier integrity through YAP-mediated stabilization of ZO-1", and the other on October 30, 2025, in the CAS Zone 1 journal Biomaterials, titled: "Thermoplastic silk-plasticizer membranes for biodegradable artificial corneal endothelium". One study reveals the complete mechanism by which matrix stiffness affects corneal endothelial cell junctions, and the other is the world's first application of a biodegradable biological source silk fibroin material for artificial corneal endothelial reconstruction. Ph.D. Candidate Chi Miaomiao from the Department of Ophthalmology is the first author of the series of studies, and Hong Jing and Peng Rongmei are the co-corresponding authors.
