In December 2025, Professor Song Chunli's team from the Department of Orthopedics of Peking University Third Hospital published a research paper in Gut Microbes titled "Gut microbiota preserves bone mass through modulating the hyodeoxycholic acid -TGR5 axis", revealing the role of the gut microbiota-bile acid-TGR5 axis in bone metabolism. This study not only reveals the mechanism by which gut microbiota prevents and treats osteoporosis by regulating bile acid metabolism at the molecular level, but more importantly, it provides a practical breakthrough for the clinical transformation of related results.
Professor Song Chunli of Peking University Third Hospital is the corresponding author of the paper; Dr. Zheng Xuanqi, Dr. Huang Jie, and Associate Researcher Yuan Wanqiong from the Department of Orthopedics are the co-first authors.
