From April 24 to 26, the Midwifery Development Forum, co-hosted by Peking University Third Hospital and the National Clinical Research Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology and organized by the Midwife Training Institute of Peking University Third Hospital, was held at Peking University Yingjie Exchange Center. Li Baohua, Assistant President of Peking University Third Hospital and Director of the Nursing Department, presided over the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Yu Yanhong, former member of the Party Leadership Group of the National Health Commission and former Commissioner of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, expressed expectations for strengthening the midwifery workforce, improving delivery room conditions and service capacity, and giving full play to the distinctive strengths of traditional Chinese medicine. Academician Qiao Jie, Director of Peking University Health Science Center, expressed three expectations: integrating smart healthcare, remaining mother-and-baby centered, and developing an international vision. Li Rong, Vice President of Peking University Third Hospital, and Zhao Yangyu, Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, called on midwives to take responsibility in clinical practice and jointly build a more humane modern perinatal care system.

The forum featured in-depth discussions across four dimensions: midwifery techniques, team building, quality improvement, and scientific research. It covered many hot topics, including clinical practice, delivery room safety, and postpartum rehabilitation, with dozens of experts from China and abroad, including the United States, Singapore, and New Zealand, delivering excellent academic presentations.
