On March 4, 2025, Professor Li Weishi's team from the Department of Orthopedics at Peking University Third Hospital published their research findings in the prestigious journal Nature Communications. The paper is titled "A metamaterial scaffold beyond modulus limits: enhanced osteogenesis and angiogenesis of critical bone defects."
The research team invented a nonlinear meta-material scaffold that surpasses traditional modulus matching paradigms and adheres to the biomechanical adaptation principles of bone tissue strain. This innovation provides theoretical support for the personalized design of clinical bone repair materials, showing broad prospects for solving clinical challenges.
Qin Yu, Associate Researcher, and Jing Zehao from the Department of Orthopedics at Peking University Third Hospital are the co-first authors. Professor Li Weishi, Associate Professor Wen Peng from Tsinghua University, and Professor Zheng Yufeng from Peking University are the co-corresponding authors.
