On March 18, 2025, the team led by Professor Liping Duan from the Department of Gastroenterology at Peking University Third Hospital published a research article in iMeta titled: “Preconception maternal gut dysbiosis affects enteric nervous system development and disease susceptibility in offspring via the GPR41–GDNF/RET/SOX10 signaling pathway.” This study investigates how preconception maternal gut dysbiosis impacts the development of the enteric nervous system (ENS) and the susceptibility to intestinal diseases in adulthood in offspring. It identifies preconception risk factors affecting gut development and provides important theoretical guidance for maternal health management prior to pregnancy. Zhang Cunzheng, a Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Gastroenterology at Peking University Third Hospital, is the first author of the paper, and Professor Liping Duan is the corresponding author.
