On July 2, 2025, Fu Wei and Zhang Zhipeng from the Cancer Center and Department of General Surgery, Peking University Third Hospital, and Sun Lulu's team from the Department of Endocrinology, published their latest research findings in Cell Metabolism. The paper, titled "Microbial riboflavin inhibits ceramide synthase 3 to lower ceramide (d18:1/26:0) and delay colorectal cancer progression", provides theoretical basis and direct evidence for the development of novel therapeutic methods based on gut microbiota and metabolites, especially highlighting ceramide synthase CERS3 as a potential therapeutic target for colorectal cancer. Fu Wei, Zhang Zhipeng, and Sun Lulu are co-corresponding authors, while doctoral student Qu Ruize, and postdoctoral fellows Zhang Yi and Zeng Guangyi are co-first authors.
