The Launch Meeting for the National Key R&D Program "Research and Development of Key Technologies for Exercise Assessment and Functional Improvement in the Elderly Population Based on Digital Twin Technology" Was Held

On October 19, 2025, the launch meeting for the "14th Five-Year Plan" National Key R&D Program under the key special project "Scientific and Technological Responses to Proactive Health and Population Aging"—the project on "Research and Development of Key Technologies for Exercise Assessment and Functional Improvement in the Elderly Population Based on Digital Twin Technology"—led by Peking University Third Hospital, was held at the China National Convention Center. The project team specially invited Professor Xie Minhao, former Director of the Sports Medicine Research Institute of the General Administration of Sport, to serve as the Chief Consultant, and appointed Professor Wang Jianquan, Chairman of the Chinese Medical Association Sports Medicine Branch and Director of the Department of Sports Medicine, Peking University Third Hospital, Dr. Feng Junlan, China Mobile Group Chief Scientist, and Professor Zhong Bingshu, former President of Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, as the Heads of the Expert Guidance Group.
Deng Rui, Deputy Director of the Office of Scientific Research, Peking University Health Science Center, and Yan Liying, Director of the Office of Scientific Research, Peking University Third Hospital, representatives of the project's leading unit, stated they would provide support and guarantee. Professor Hong Ping, Vice President of Beijing Sport University, a project participant representative, emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and achievement integration for project advancement. Professor Tang Yida, Vice Dean of Peking University Health Science Center and Vice President of Peking University Third Hospital, and the Project Leader, systematically introduced the project content. The leaders of the sub-projects also gave their respective reports. The meeting also included a session on interpreting key financial audit points and expert comments. As an important research component of this project, the launch meeting for the "Multi-center, Randomized, Controlled Study on Individualized High-Intensity Interval Exercise Based on Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) to Improve Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD)" was held simultaneously.
The project is jointly undertaken by Peking University Third Hospital, Peking University, Beijing Sport University, and 10 other institutions, aiming to form and promote a comprehensive solution to ensure the exercise safety and health of the elderly population.
