On October 8, 2025, Professor Tang Yida, Research Fellow Hua Xinwei from Peking University Third Hospital, and Professor Huang Tao's team from Peking University School of Public Health published a research paper in Science Bulletin titled: "Additive effects of Lp(a) and inflammation on cardiovascular risk beyond LDL-C lowering: circulating and genetic evidence from 401,548 adults".

The study systematically evaluated the role of Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and the inflammatory Interleukin-6 (IL-6) pathway in residual cardiovascular risk, beyond well-controlled LDL-C, using genetic and circulating level data from a large-scale population. The research reveals the potential maximum benefit of triple combined intervention [LDL-C, Lp(a), and inflammation], providing a new theoretical basis for residual cardiovascular risk management.

Professor Tang Yida, Research Fellow Hua Xinwei, and Professor Huang Tao are the co-corresponding authors of the article, and Dr. Li Rui from Peking University Third Hospital is the first author of the article.
