Experts from the Department of Urology, Peking University Third Hospital, Were Invited to Attend the German Urological Robotics Congress and Gave Surgical Demonstrations

        From November 13 to 15, 2025, Professor Zhang Shudong, Director of the Department of Urology, and Chief Physician Zhang Fan of Peking University Third Hospital were invited to attend the German Urological Robotics Congress in Hamburg, Germany.

        At Asklepios Klinik Altona, Professor Zhang Shudong successfully performed robot-assisted laparoscopic right partial nephrectomy on an 80-year-old German patient as the chief surgeon. This was the first surgical demonstration of a domestically produced surgical robot in Europe for urological surgery, and the second demonstration following the robotic surgery performed by Academician Zhang Xu of Chinese Urology in Europe. During the period, Professor Zhang Shudong and Chief Physician Zhang Fan were appointed as Visiting Professors of the hospital. In addition, Professor Zhang Shudong systematically demonstrated the complete process of surgery for renal cell carcinoma with inferior vena cava tumor thrombus in the semi-live session of the congress, sharing multiple internationally leading techniques based on Peking University Third Hospital's experience of more than 700 cases of tumor thrombus surgery.
