On November 28, 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) released the first edition of the WHO Global Guideline for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infertility, aimed at promoting safer, equitable, and affordable fertility care services worldwide. Academician Qiao Jie of Peking University Third Hospital was invited as the only Chinese expert representative of the "Guideline External Review Group" to conduct expert review and provide guidance on revisions to the guidelines.

The guidelines are the most systematic, rigorous, and ethically grounded global guidelines for infertility to date, containing 12 chapters and 40 recommendations. They clarify the clinical diagnostic pathways for common causes of infertility in both men and women and provide stepped treatment suggestions ranging from basic management strategies to assisted reproductive technology. The guidelines advocate for cost-effective intervention options at all stages, as well as the integration of fertility care into national health strategies, services, and financing systems, and call for increased investment in prevention efforts. The World Health Organization encourages countries to appropriately adjust and implement relevant recommendations based on their national conditions while monitoring implementation progress.
