On March 31, the teams led by Researcher Mao Fengbiao and Academician Qiao Jie from the Peking University Third Hospital Institute of Medical Innovation, together with Associate Researchers Zhao Xiaolu and Liu Qiang, published research findings titled "The landscape and regulatory potential of eccDNAs in mammalian preimplantation embryos" in Nature Communications (IF: 15.7).
Using multiple displacement amplification (MDA), the research team performed whole-genome sequencing across six key developmental stages of early mouse embryos, systematically revealing the formation mechanisms and dynamic features of eccDNA during early embryonic development and, for the first time, confirming its potential function in regulating gene expression in early embryos.
Researcher Mao Fengbiao, Associate Researcher Zhao Xiaolu, Associate Researcher Liu Qiang, and Academician Qiao Jie are co-corresponding authors. Dr. Wei Ling, Dr. Wu Ning, and postdoctoral fellow Chen Lu are co-first authors.
