Peking University Third Hospital Co-Hosts Conference on a New Paradigm for Future Medical Talent Training

From April 17 to 19, the Conference on a New Paradigm for Future Medical Talent Training, co-hosted by Peking University Third Hospital and the National Center for Health Professions Education Development, was held.
Academician Han Qide, Honorary President of the China Association for Science and Technology; Lin Huiqing, President of the China Association of Higher Education and Chair of the Ministry of Education's Expert Committee on Medical Education; Gao Bin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education; Lin Jianhua, former President of Peking University; Academician Qiao Jie, Director of Peking University Health Science Center, and other leaders from the Health Science Center; Academician Dong Erdan, Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences of Peking University; world-renowned artificial intelligence expert Zhu Songchun; Joseph C. Kolars, Senior Associate Dean for Education and Global Initiatives at the University of Michigan Medical School; leaders from the Department of Science, Technology and Education of the National Health Commission, the Open University of China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanxi Medical University, Beihang University, Harbin Medical University, and other institutions; and Fu Wei, President of Peking University Third Hospital, attended the conference.
The conference included one main forum, three sub-forums, five workshops, 23 thematic academic presentations, and five roundtable discussions. The main forum explored topics such as the macro-level impact of artificial general intelligence, interdisciplinary integration and creativity cultivation, and pathways for systemic transformation. The roundtables focused on the development of medical education in the AI era and the reshaping of educational innovation leadership in the digital intelligence era. The sub-forums shared practical experience around themes including digitally empowered faculty development, reshaping educational leadership, and cross-domain integrated education. The workshops explored teaching innovation pathways in practical fields such as faculty development, education research, and AI teaching applications. During the conference, the unveiling ceremonies for the Peking University Medicine Houdao Academy and the Peking University Third Hospital Medical Experimental Teaching Center were also held, and the hospital's interdisciplinary integrated education platform was launched.
