Experts from Yale Cancer Center Visit the Department of General Surgery of Peking University Third Hospital for Academic Exchange

On April 17, Professor Mehra Golshan, Professor of Surgical Oncology at Yale School of Medicine and Chair of the Education Committee of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, visited the Department of General Surgery of Peking University Third Hospital.

Bing Yuntao, Associate Chief Physician of the Department of General Surgery, said the exchange was an important opportunity to deepen China-US cooperation in breast surgery and expressed hope that collaboration between the two sides would promote further development. Wang Xingyan, Deputy Director of the department, introduced the overall profile of the Department of General Surgery. Chief Physician Zhao Hongmei introduced the breast specialty and the breast cancer MDT team. Professor Golshan introduced the current status of breast-conserving surgery for breast cancer in the United States and shared how a multimodal image-guided operating room system can reduce the positive margin rate.

Based on a case, experts from the multidisciplinary team of Peking University Third Hospital, Du Yang, editorial board member of Advanced Clinical Engineering and researcher at the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and others discussed related topics with Professor Golshan.
