Peking University Third Hospital Holds Launch Meeting for Beijing Key Laboratory of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Human Microecology and Microbial Agent Development

On August 29, 2026, the launch meeting of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Human Microecology and Microbial Agent Development was held in Beijing. The opening ceremony was chaired by Duan Liping, Director of the laboratory and Director of the Department of General Internal Medicine at Peking University Third Hospital.

The laboratory was reorganized on the basis of the former Beijing Key Laboratory of Helicobacter pylori Infection and Upper Gastrointestinal Disease Prevention and Treatment Research at the Department of Gastroenterology, Peking University Third Hospital. It is hosted by Peking University Third Hospital and jointly established with Peking University, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Zhongke Weizhi (Beijing) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The laboratory is built around the core line of “mechanism elucidation, precision diagnosis, original formulation development, and validation and translation,” focusing on the two goals of “precision diagnosis and treatment” and “microbial agent development.”

Wang Jiadong, Vice President of Peking University Health Science Center, Fu Wei, President of Peking University Third Hospital, Academician Chen Wei, President of China Agricultural University, and Professor Yu Jun of the Chinese University of Hong Kong each delivered remarks. Attending leaders and experts jointly unveiled the laboratory, and members of the management committee, academic committee, and core principal investigators received their appointment certificates. Afterward, representatives of the host and co-founding institutions delivered reports on the laboratory's development, in a session chaired by Professor Ding Shigang, Director of the Department of Gastroenterology at Peking University Third Hospital.

During the meeting, the launch ceremony of the "Microecology Citizen Science Program" was also held. In the roundtable discussion session, attending experts discussed topics related to precision diagnosis and treatment and microbial agent development. Zhang Jing, Deputy Director of the Department of Gastroenterology and Deputy Director of the laboratory at Peking University Third Hospital, gave the meeting summary.
